On Saturday December 17 the JEMMA Press and KOULOURI arrived to Thessaloniki.

The presentation took place at evening in La DOZE Bar. Many people came to listen the conversation, we signed our comics and we drank several beers and wines. We had a great time!

Βρίσκεται εκεί από το 1982, βγαλμένο από άλλες, όμορφες εποχές, με άποψη και έχει όλες τις εκδόσεις της JEMMA Press και τα κόμικς της. Βρίσκεται στον κεντρικό και πολυσύχναστο πεζόδρομο Δ. Γούναρη απέναντι ακριβώς από τα αρχαία.

And finally on Sunday December 12, I was presented my work in Panorama Design which took place at Benaki Museum in Athens. Specifically I developed the concept and the whole process of the logo and poster I made for BE THERE! Corfu Animation Festival.

I'm glad that I participated in this event and I had the opportunity to share some things and experiences with the amazing audience. Also a big thanks to Dimitris Fakinos by +Design Magazine for the invitation.

On Saturday December 10 I took part in the discussion "Literature and Comics" at the 1st Festival for Young Authors which organized by The National Book Center of Greece (E.KE.BI) in collaboration with the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation in Athens. Also (from left) Lyda Tsene (coordinator), Petros Christoulias, Vasilia Vaxevani and Yannis Palavos participated in the discussion.

For all weekend at the festival, the people could see the comic strips slideshow by our team "THE VERY CLOSED CIRCLE".

Last Friday we made a graffiti with Tasmar (simply destroying the wall) at the inauguration of the new JEMMA Books & Comics store at Piraeus. It took us about seven hours to finish this unique baroque masterpiece and we felt it very well in our waist. But we had a great time and we saw many friends who passed to say hello. We thank them all!

So, back to 90's again! The 6th story of "21st Century #@!*% Boy" from the 16th issue of the music fanzine "The THING". In this story, the hero lives in a dream and he's watching "The THING" turned into a popular, well known and mainstream magazine. He comes across with known groups of that era as SMASHING BANANAS, PEARL HONEY and GREEN COLD FRIED TOMATOES. Apart of all these he also dreams about big money, but he'll discover it will stay... a dream.

45 BANDS 50x70 vol.2 Rock Poster Exhibition

Posters from 45 Greek bands and solo artists printed on the emblematic dimension of 50x70 cm. Famous groups, newcomers or wannabes - silkscreens, offset or digital prints - from awarded graphic designers, small studios or do it yourself.

The result forms a rare collection of images from live performances that create the imagery of the modern Greek music scene. The show is an attempt to collect and exhibit the creative identities of various bands from different music genres in one space simultaneously.

The concept? Music bands that experiment with their image either through do it yourself posters or through collaborations with artists and design studios, therefore creating a unique relationship with their fans.

To the everlasting question “Why do I judge an album by its cover?” our answer is: There is a reason

During the exhibition opening there will be live performances by Kid Flicks and Film and an OKTANA party with dj’s by the legendary Exarchia club.

I'm Tom's big fan, so when I opened the packages my brain stopped working for awhile. Original artworks, silkscreen, postcards and comic books, all of them signed by Tom are simply amazing. Be sure to check his work on his website www.tomgauld.com and his Flickr. His cartoons for the Guardian are one of the most incredible and meaningful (or not... hahaha) drawings I ever saw.

Today I received from Bob Flynn both issues of amazing HEEBY JEEBY Comix. Four awesome comic artists: Bob Flynn, David DeGrand, Dan Moynihan and Chris Houghton create "senseless" stories for crazy minds! Hahaha...

Bob told me that I'm the first in Greece who have ordered their comics and I hope not the last. Also he added in the pack his mini Inkbook. Thanks guys!

The poster I did last April for BE THERE! Corfu Animation Festival was also a silkscreen made by TIND!

We put the three-color beans in their awesome laboratory and the result was just perfect.

The silkscreen poster was printed in a limited series of 100 copies with 5 colors (A3 size).

The Comicdom Con Athens 2011 is over. I had a great time and I'm already waiting for the next one. I saw there many friends and I talked with lot of people. Below I've post few photos from the event.

Here is my highlight of the weekend. Quick lunch break before signing with David Prudhomme (Rébétiko) and Chris Ware (Jimmy Corrigan, Acme Novelty) who was stop for a while at our table for an interesting chat.

Yesterday I've been at presentation for greek edition of CHESTER BROWN's "I Never Liked You" by Kormoranos/Inkpress. A beautiful edition of great comic artist and the guys from Kormoranos have make really awesome work. The cover, the lettering... everything's in high level as much close to original. The event took place at Vinyl Microstore and lot of people were there to support the book.

The fourth episode came in issue #14 of "The Thing" in 1995. In this story I played a game with the T-shirts which I collected like a maniac in those times. We had also another story (Christmas this time) for "The Thing in Action".
But the big thing in this issue was the release of the first CD "The Thing from another World Vol.1" which contained a collection of the best Greek alternative bands like The Last Drive, Rockin' Bones, Make Believe, Deus X Machina, Oh! Jimbo of course, didn't wait to ask me to do the cover for this collection and I made these 18 creatures from another world, one for each band.

A pleasant surprise comes from Poland!

In October it released the 9th issue of the alternative comics magazine ZINIOL which is dedicated to the Greek comics. Involving several comic artists such as: Tasos Maragos, Tasos Zafeiriadis, John Bardakos, Alexia Othoneou, Spyros Derveniotis, Michael Dialynas, George Melissaropoulos, Petros Xristoulias, Manos Lakgouverdos, Ilias Kyriazis and possibly others.

I will participate with my stories "ΦATSA" and "The Most Stupid Hits In My Life (World) Ever" in which ZINIOL had reference in the third promo for the issue and this is my first appearance in the Polish magazine ever. At last I will see my work printed in the country I was born. Cool!

Unfortunately ZINIOL released only in Polish language, but worth a look and get a taste of the remarkable Polish comics scene.

I had a great time in last April which was full of various facts and events.
The first one was the publishing of HEHE! by the Giganto Books and it presented at Comicdom Con Athens 2010. Also I did the illustrations for the site of Comicdom Awards and I designed also the statuette for them.
That weekend I received two merits at EGBE 2010 Awards for illustrations of "Comicdom Awards" and "The 700 Machines".

The THING #13 (1995) - Third Story

It was 1995 and the third part of the "21st Century #@!*% Boy" released. I tried to find a direction for the story and I couldn't find something good. Then I decided to do something meaningless, something like "Take it or Leave it". The years of "revolution". Haha...
"The Thing in Action!" was a game we played with Dimitris (publisher), we used to exchange various ideas about the hand from the logo and giving him some super powers. To fight bad music of course ;)

Few days ago I'd dig in tons of papers and I found this drawing above which I made six years ago during one... Boring PPM.

AKIRA - Kaneda & Tetsuo figurines

Last week I received finally the classic statues of Kaneda and Tetsuo. Beautiful package, amazing details and this mythical breeze around them. One of the best figurines ever made. It was little bit difficult to find them because they were almost out of stock.
I'm not a crazy fan of AKIRA, but I really love it. I still remember the smack on my face when I saw the movie for the first time very very long time ago. Later I read this manga in comic book, the second smack came quickly and I appreciated it more and more. What incredible story from Katsuhiro Otomo!

The last Autumn I made this cover for my friends The 700 Machines. I took the whole concept of the idea, illustration, logos, graphic design and by the poster. I tried to make as many machines could need to cover, but I do not ever counted. But certainly not 700 (hehe). Count on you!

The CD was released by Studio II Records and for more information visit their websites at Myspace.

If you like the good old and heavy sound of Detroit, with influences from Blues and Funk, then that's it!

Uf! I'm still running... Before Christmas I finished these ten angry creatures for Comicdom Awards 2010 site. This year, the guys from Comicdom wanted to change few things (hmm... I think, all things) in the voting process and I became part of these changes by making the illustrations. I really enjoyed it!

The THING #11 (1995) - My First Comic

Since Today I start upload my Blog with my older comic project called "21st CENTURY #@!*% BOY". I was making it for alternative music fanzine "The THING" between 1995 - 1999 and it was my first ever serious comic.

The comic above published in issue #11 and inside you can find also a interview I gave to fanzine's publisher Dimitris "Jimbo" KATSOULAKOS (Hi Dimitris!).

In that first story, I didn't know what exactly to do, but I wanted simply to do something, anything. I didn't care what! Hope you enjoy it and maybe some people could remember "The THING" years.

PICTOPLASMA 2009 Berlin !!!

Πριν μιά βδομάδα γύρισα από το Βερολίνο όπου παρακολούθησα το PICTOPLASMA 2009. Το FESTIVAL OF NEW CHARACTER WORLDS διοργανώνεται κάθε 2 χρόνια από το PICTOPLASMA και περιλαμβάνει προβολές, παρουσιάσεις, workshops και character walk από καλλιτέχνες απ' όλο τον κόσμο. Πέρασα φανταστικά και προτείνω σ'όλους όσοι ασχολούνται με character design στο ελάχιστο, να μη το χάσουν την επόμενη φορά. Χαιρετώ τους Σταύρο και Άννι από το V-zine, τους οποίους γνώρισα εκεί και είχαμε την ευκαιρία να συζητάμε επί τόπου για το κάθε γεγονός. Δεν αφήσαμε "τίποτα" ασχολίαστο (HeHe!).

Στην είσοδο, οι Friends With You είχαν στήσει ένα fun park και...

...στο εσωτερικό υπήρχαν συγκρουόμενα σχεδιασμένα από γνωστούς καλλιτέχνες.

Δύο παρουσίες που μου έκαναν περισσότερο εντύπωση ήταν, η μία αυτή του Gaston Caba από την Αργεντινή, ο οποίος έκανε μία καταπληκτική παρουσίαση στην εξίσου καταπλικτική δουλειά του. Όταν ένα απόγευμα πήραμε τους δρόμους για το Characters Walk, και βρεθήκαμε στην gallerie όπου έκθεταν Αργεντίνοι illustrators, δεν δίστασα να αγοράσω μία μεταξοτυπία του και άλλη μία της Juliana Pedemonte.

Και η άλλη, ήταν του Marek Michalowski από το Pittsburgh U.S. ο οποίος κάνει διδακτορικό πάνω στην ρομποτική και μαζί με τον Hideki Kozima από την Ιαπωνία δημιουργήσανε τον Keepon, το κοτοπουλάκι. Είχα την ευκαιρία να μιλήσω μαζί του και αν μπείτε στο site τους, στο BeatBots, θα δείτε την καταπληκτική δουλειά που γίνεται πίσω από το κίτρινο αυτό πουλάκι.
